Ships Ahoy! Toronto Port Authority Supports 2013 Redpath Waterfront Festival

Water Shuttle will Provide Fun, Scenic, Convenient Access to Tall Ships

TORONTO, June 19, 2013 /Canada NewsWire/ - Toronto Port Authority (TPA) today announced its support of the Redpath Waterfront Festival. TPA will be providing a Water Shuttle to transport attendees along the waterfront to the Festival's various sites.

"Tall ships are back in the city this summer and we're proud to once again be a part of this celebration of marine history," said Geoffrey Wilson, TPA President and CEO. "The Water Shuttle will offer families and Festival attendees a scenic alternative to walking along Queens Quay."

The Water Shuttle, which has a capacity of 290 passengers, will have stops at three convenient waterfront locations - Sherbourne Common, York Street Slip and John Quay - where attendees can hop on board. The Water Shuttle will run between 2:00 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. on June 20 and 21, from 10 a.m. to 7:40 p.m. on Saturday June 22 and between 10 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. on Sunday June 23.

The Redpath Waterfont Festival runs June 20 to 23, 2013. This year's Festival will feature 11 tall ships from Europe and North America and will commemorate the bicentennial of the War of 1812 with a pan-provincial tour. Toronto is the only port on the TALL SHIPS® 1812 Tour where the entire fleet can be seen in one location. The tall ships will be moored along the full two-kilometre length of the waterfront, from HTO Park West near the foot of Spadina Avenue to Sherbourne Common, near Sugar Beach.
